Bata de Cola Class with Estefania

Open Level (Beginners Welcome)
Day: Thursdays
Time: 6:15-7:30pm

The bata de cola is a flamenco dress with a long train that requires a very specific technique. Estefania has studied bata de cola in Spain under world famous flamenco artists such as La Choni, Pilar Ogalla, and Leonor Leal.

She brings her dance experience to her knowledge of explaining correct technique and body posture essential for dancing properly with the bata de cola. Estefania will sometimes dedicate part of the class to "elements" such as castanettes, manton and fanwork. 

Come join us for this fantastic class!

Please bring a bata de cola skirt.

Please note the first part of the class is done without the bata so please bring something comfortable to wear like track pants or dance trousers.

New Choreography starting in Spring: Garrotin (hat required)

Both women and men welcome, start any time.  Women please wear a wide, full volume, mid-length to long skirt.  Please wear flamenco shoes or a shoe with a low, sturdy heel.  No stilletto shoes.

Estefania has lived and trained in Sevilla, Spain which is considered to be the birthplace of flamenco with Jerez, and studied intensively with Sevilla based artists: Andres Peña, Pilar Ogalla, Leonor Leal, La Choni, Raphael Campallo, Adela Campallo and Ursula Lopez,... among others. She brings her dance experience to her classes. She has performed at different venues and events in Atlanta. She continues to return to Sevilla regularly to continue her studies and further develop her art.
